Welcome to Wyeth Grange Castle
Overview
Welcome to The Wyeth Biotech Campus at Grange Castle. This is Wyeth's latest investment in Ireland, €1.8 billion in a biopharmaceutical campus located on a 90-acre site at the Grange Castle Business Park in South County Dublin. The development is one of the largest integrated biopharmaceutical campuses in the world and is the only facility in Europe to manufacture biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals and vaccines within the same facility. 1,280 full time employees have been recruited to date at Grange Castle.
Construction
The scale of the construction challenge was enormous - to build one of the worlds largest integrated biopharmaceutical campuses in 33 months. The 111,500 M2 campus involved a total investment of €1.8 billion. In construction terms the facility required 1.25 million person hours of engineering; nine million person hours of construction; 15,000 tonnes of structural steel; 48,800 metres of process piping; 2,400 separate items of equipment; 50 different sub-contract packages; 7,587 different drawings; and 1,200 specific validation protocols. Construction personnel peaked at 2,500.
The Campus has been designed to the have highest architectural quality and aesthetic appeal befitting a dynamic modern setting for the manufacture of breakthrough medicines. It takes its inspiration from a university Campus seeking to reflect the quality and ambiance suitable for a high tech biopharmaceutical manufacturing and development operation.
Quality
Provides services in support of all commercial operations on the Campus and includes chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, sterility testing, virology, mycoplasma, quality assurance and validation.
Development
Provides the science and technology expertise required to develop, introduce and maintain process and analytical technologies for the production of biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals and vaccines for Wyeth.
Drug Substance
Is a multi-product facility for the media preparation, fermentation, and purification stages of drug substance.
Finished Product
Is responsible for fill finish operations including formulation, vial preparation, aseptic filling of vials and syringes, lyophilisation of vials, capping, and inspection operations.
Vaccine Conjugation
Produces conjugated polysaccharides for use in multi valent vaccines against pneumococcal infection.
Products
The Campus will manufacture three key healthcare products for the prevention or treatment of serious illnesses including rheumatoid arthritis, inter-abdominal infections and pneumococcal disease in young children. The Campus will manufacture products in each of the key platforms of biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals and vaccines.
